about

Boating Accident was a 'garage band' formed in about 1987 by a group of Henley High School students, all of whom had a dream of one day becoming successful in the music business (30 years later they are all still dreaming!)

The band consisted of Brant Eustice (lyricist / vocalist) - Rob McDade (guitar) - Darren Hedley (bass) - Andrew Innes (drums) - with Hamish Dyson (guitar) and Paul White (keyboards) at various times.

We practiced a lot. We wrote a lot of original numbers, and tried a lot of covers. There were quite a few gigs - mostly parties, school shows, and the odd public event. From memory we only did one pub gig.

Over several sessions across 1988 & 1989 we recorded a number of songs - our 'best', or favourite original pieces, and two covers.
The recordings here, are the only known audio artifacts of this band.

Tapes that I have had sitting in my cupboards for 30 years waiting to be resurrected, and maybe enjoyed by a wider audience for the first time , have been transferred to digital files. Very little has been done to alter the original sound quality, to preserve their authenticity.

We were a terrible band - a lot of fun to play in - but terrible! We plugged away for 3-4 years from about 1987-1990. We never really got anywhere.
Listening back to these old recordings - these songs - we weren't so bad after all.

Dedicated to my mum and dad - Tom and Irene. RIP.

about

Rob McDade SA, Australia

Rob's music is very eclectic. Playing multi-layered psychedelic guitar epics, incorporating loads of improvisation and unearthly sounds, Rob's performance is sure to entertain anybody with a true love of musical expression and an appreciation of instrumental virtuosity.
